GakAttack

I know that some of you have already watched the notable video on YouTube, “Epic Anime Time”. The director, Jung Lee aka GakAttack, is a Canadian based in Toronto who embraces filmmaking as his medium of tribulation to characters in anime, games, manga, novels, etc. He attended this year’s Anime North (a major anime convention held every year in Toronto), and collaborating with the cosplayers he met there, he came up with a really nice looking short video showing fight scenes between him and the cosplayers.

He did the same for another major event in Canada, FanExpo Canada.

It goes without saying his imagination drives his creativity and helps him a lot with his choreography and his style of video editing. With this, he can instantly cook up some fight choreography on the spot with little rehearsals or none at all. The above two videos is the proof of it.

I’m a big fan of the anime of Hajime no Ippo. I get all excited with the close distance fights between Ippo and fellow infighters. GakAttack manage to recreate those compact solid punch effects from the anime.

Besides choreography, directing and acting, he really puts much thought into his concepts. And so far, his concepts could possibly opened more possibilities with independent video filmmaking.

Above video is my personal favorite. Wand fights have never been this combative and awesome.

Personally, I really look forward to what more he can come up with. The quality of his work has me wanting to participate in video shoots.
